Our Process

Stage 1 - Quality Planning

Once the contract is awarded, an assigned project manager generates necessary forms for our ISO 9001:2015 quality assurance system certified by DNV. In addition to quality planning, CTS will also conduct risk management planning.

Stage 2 – Design Planning

3D models of each unique type of container will be prepared based on requirements. This process involves design reviews and verification processes with the project manager and the lead engineer.

Stage 3 – Approval of Drawings

Using the 3D models created, drafters will generate a general arrangement drawing based on the project requirements which will be submitted for review and approval prior to any fabrication or modification.

Stage 4 – Material Ordering and Fabrication

Once the general arrangement drawing is approved by client, the designers will start producing detailed fabrication drawings while the project manager starts ordering material starting with high lead time items including the HVAC systems and rollup doors.

Stage 5 – Periodic Progress Updates of Fabrication

CTS Containers’ project manager is responsible for providing weekly progress reports to clients along with any other possible issues. These reports will include photos and an estimate schedule updates for project milestones. By providing weekly updates CTS Containers ensures transparency with clients and avoids sudden surprises.

Stage 6 – Product Realization, Test and Inspection

In various stages of the fabrication, the designer and the engineer will perform dimensional checks and confirm the unit is fit to proceed to the next stage. After completing all welding and dimensional checks the shop foreman will inspect the unit and fill the QA forms to release the unit for the blast and paint process.

Stage 7 – Paint and Insulation

Manufactured containers, after release for paint inspection, would be surface prepared and painted under CTS Containers’ stringent blast and paint procedures. Environmental conditions would be recorded during this process. If applicable, unit would be insulated, and lining will be done as per client specifications. After completing internal lining, the electrical work will begin.

Stage 8 – Electrical Scope

During the installation of electrical, third party (QPS) inspections will be conducted to ensure all electrical equipment and installation are as per CSA SPE-1000. Upon successful inspections during the installation as well as final inspections after completion of electrical scope, the third party will grant the CSA approval by issuing a field evaluation report and by placing a sticker inside the container.

Stage 9 – Final Inspection and Shipment

Once the unit is completed, the project manager, the designer and the lead engineer will perform a final inspection of the unit. Once the unit passes final inspection, client will be notified, and shipping will be arranged.

Stage 10 – Documentation

CTS Containers’ project manager will compile all as-built documentation and submit it to client for future maintenance and repair. Should a replacement of any equipment be required, the documentation provided can be used.

Stage 11 – Invoicing

CTS Containers will issue invoices as per project milestones and invoicing schedules which are confirmed during the project planning stages.
